Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, paid tribute to the heroes of the homeland, in a ceremony of Raising the Flag Monument, in the lobby of the National Museum of Military History in allusion to the 47th anniversary of the proclamation of National Independence.
João Lourenço reviewed the Defense and Security Forces, greeted members of the Executive and party leaders present at the act.
The flag, 18 meters long, 12 meters wide and weighing 40 kilograms, was hoisted on the 75 meter high pole. The Minister of Territory Administration, Dionísio da Fonseca, representing the President of the Republic, laid flowers on the tomb of the first President of Angola, António Agostinho Neto.
The vice presidents of the parties MPLA (Luísa Damião), UNITA (Arlete Chimbinda) and the secretary general of the FNLA (Aguiar Laurindo) also paid tribute to the National Hero with the laying of flowers.
Regarding the event, the Minister of Finance, Vera Daves, said that the path is being made, although there is still much to be done. She said that a way was found to, in the meantime, ensure political stability and make a very strong investment to keep the country interconnected, where people can move around without difficulty.
He added that the Executive will continue to work so that Angolans can travel from Cabinda to Cunene and invest heavily in economic diversification, because what is wanted is to have more alternative sources of growth.
“We are proud of everything we have achieved so far and we will continue to do our best, so that Angola grows and develops in an inclusive way and no Angolan is left behind”, said the Minister of Finance.
In turn, the Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, underlined that the Angolan people are growing stronger and accompanying the gains in freedom. She stressed that merit and credit must be given to all those who fought for the liberation of Angola and contributed to its growth from a social, economic and political point of view.
Sílvia Lutucuta stressed that during 47 years of Independence, the Health sector grew a lot, because infrastructures were built, staff were admitted and trained, especially in the area of Human Resources, and they are bringing services closer and closer to the population, treating from greatest to least complexity.
Of the gains, he highlighted some of the sector, mainly the reversal of the Medical Boards, the 35 percent increase in the workforce and said that now “they are on a good path”.
The minister of Social Action, Family and Promotion of Women, Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto, defined the 47 years of freedom, unity and national reconciliation, of the promotion of women and the journey of equality and gender equality.
“The Angolan woman, as a participant in peace in Angola, has continued to progress and is at the base of the family. The country is moving towards gender equity, creating opportunities for her to develop. We will continue to preserve Independence, peace and democracy”.
Luzia Inglês, former secretary general of the OMA, said that the day was of great joy, for once again witnessing an anniversary of the Independence of Angola. “I have been in this process for 61 years. And, finally, our struggle for emancipation is a fact. In these 47 years we have managed to have 51 percent female representation. We will continue to work responsibly in the country’s socio-economic process. It cost the lives of many Angolan compatriots. We will pass on a legacy of peace to future generations so that the country continues to perpetuate this path of peaceful reconstruction”, he stressed.
The country has also achieved economic and social achievements
Luísa Damião stressed that in the 47 years of independence the country had many achievements in the political, economic and social fields. She stressed that we must continue to work to have an increasingly better, more democratic, inclusive and modern country. She highlighted gender equality, with the election of a woman as Vice-President of the Republic, a President of the National Assembly and representations in the Legislative, Judicial and Executive Powers.
The MPLA vice-president highlighted other achievements such as freedom of the press, economic infrastructure, large projects, above all, linked to Electric Energy, with emphasis on the Cafu Canal in Cunene province, which came to mitigate some problems. of drought.
“All Angolans must transform these 47 years into a journey of reflection so that we know what contribution we have been making to have an increasingly better country”, he said, adding that the memory of those who fought should be honored, so that, in fact, , the country was independent.
He reiterated the need to honor the memory of Agostinho Neto, who was the man who proclaimed Angola’s Independence before Africa and the world, by becoming a subject of public international law, becoming a free and sovereign country. .
“All the sons and daughters of Angola must continue to work so that the achievements are preserved. And one of the many is without a doubt peace. Peace is the sine qua non condition for the development of any country and we must continue to cement the national unity and to consolidate peace”, advocated Luísa Damião.
Adalberto Costa Júnior, president of UNITA, said that the 11th of November is an important date that calls for unity and celebrates the entire history, as it was a difficult achievement. It was noted that many dedicated people should be remembered and honored, which constitutes an invitation to national cohesion.
“It’s a big challenge for a current moment, where these aspects for almost 50 years of national independence tell us that we have a country that demands a lot of dedication and hard work from us. I think that 47 years of Independence needed more, particularly for me who I came out of a long campaign across the country. We need to work together, more dialogue, more national concertation”, he stressed.
“I think everything is simple. We are prepared to work with others. This is my message on this day of Independence, national cohesion”, reaffirmed Adalberto Costa Júnior.
For the president of the Humanist Party of Angola (PHA), Florbela Malaquias, it is up to Angolans to give content to this legacy of freedom: “From now on, rethink the way of living and prospering, valuing the Independence conquered with sweat and blood” .
The president of the Social Renewal Party (PRS), Benedito Daniel, defended that the greatest gain in the fight against colonialism was the conquest of freedom, because “Angola is a nation to be built and a society to be edified”.
Despite the difficulties, according to Benedito Daniel, the important thing is freedom, nothing else can be exchanged for freedom: “Angola is a free and independent country. freedom for future generations”.
He added that now is the time for joy and rejoicing, and it is up to each Angolan to play their part in building a better organized society in all sectors of society.
