Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan community residing in Turkey celebrated, Saturday, the 47th anniversary of the country’s Independence, with various musical-cultural activities held in Istanbul.

At the ceremony, the consul general of Angola in Istanbul, Colense de Sousa, took the opportunity to present to the community the new servants of the Angolan State, in the jurisdiction of that Turkish city and surroundings, in an act which was joined by Ambassador José Patrício and others diplomats from Ankara.

He introduced the community to the spirit of the celebration of November 11, recalling the history of the armed struggle for national liberation and spoke at length about the attributions of the General Consulate of Angola in Istanbul, in a gesture of complementarity of the work with the Embassy, ​​aiming to bring the interests of the country and Angolans in Turkey.

Colense de Sousa detailed the importance of the Consulate’s work, both in the relationship with the community and with the institutions of the host country. He called for greater solidarity among compatriots, based on the motto of the celebrations “Angolans: holding hands for the future”.

He rebutted the issue of respect for the country’s laws, by Angolan citizens in Turkey, exemplifying the recent misfortune that led to the death of a young man, after he had fallen from a building while fleeing from the local police. He advised the community to be guided by exemplary behavior, dialogue more and preserve peace.

After the speeches, the cultural moment followed, with the recitation of poetry by Agostinho Neto, the first President of Angola, traditional dance and kuduro, in addition to a reflection on Independence, in the voice of student Carlos Bento.

On the other hand, in a relaxed way, Ambassador José Patrício, as the highest entity of Angola in Turkey, invited those present to do their best to build a prosperous country for the new generations.
