Africa-Press – Angola. The Foreign Minister highlighted, Sunday (13), the engagement of national staff committed to the pursuit of the strategic objectives of the foreign policy of the Republic of Angola, which on the 12th of this month marked the Angolan Diplomat Day.

In a congratulatory message, Téte António saluted, on this very important day, the figures who have stood out until today, for their service with a spirit of mission and patriotic dedication in the direction and conduct of Organs central organs of the State, so that Angola could achieve peace, the unity and stability it currently enjoys.

“To this end, I cannot fail to remember with high respect, dignity and reference, the new generations of Angolan diplomats, whose names time will never erase in the History of Angolan Diplomacy, namely Paulo Teixeira Jorge, Afonso Van-Dúnem M ‘binda, Pedro de Castro Van-Dúnem “Loy” and Venâncio de Moura, for their actions in favor of the consolidation of Independence, sovereignty and defense of the strategic interests of Angola, in an increasingly troubled and challenging world”, says in a note the minister.

He also recalled, with deep nostalgia, former holders of the Foreign Affairs portfolio and other diplomats who have passed away, but who marked an era, leaving indelible legacies of professionalism and dedication in carrying out their missions in favor of Angolan diplomacy.

According to Téte António, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs assumed the responsibility of contributing to the consolidation of the State itself and the defense of national sovereignty, asserting itself as the vanguard for the insertion of Angola in the international context, particularly in Africa.

“It is in this spirit that Angola continues on the path of consolidating its democracy and economic growth, indispensable premises in the solution of the most pressing problems of the populations, and which make Angola an international reference”, highlighted the head of Angolan diplomacy in the congratulatory message. .

According to Téte António, Angola will continue to develop its foreign policy based on the principles of respect and equality between States, peaceful resolution of conflicts, cooperation between peoples, progress and social justice.

He reaffirmed that the country will continue the strategy of promoting its competitive insertion in the international context and taking the greatest advantages of international cooperation in order to always and increasingly improve the quality of life of the Angolan people.

He also said in the note that Angola will continue to play an important role in the peace process in Africa, particularly in the regions where it operates, namely the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the Gulf of Guinea Commission (CGG ), the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) and the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region (CIRGL), whose current leadership is the responsibility of the Angolan Presidency.

Identification of the causes of conflicts

Téte António reiterated the firmness of Angola to actively contribute to the more efficient identification of the causes of conflicts and elimination of the specter of violence, through preventive diplomacy and to promote the African Agenda of 2063, in addition to contributing to the achievement of peace and security on the continent. and in other regions of the world.

“The Angolan Government, led by His Excellency João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, President of the Republic, has been conducting diplomacy aimed at attracting private foreign investment that helps the process of diversifying the economy, to which we encourage all diplomats to contribute effectively and efficiently”, stressed the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Better conditions for employees

Internally, he stressed, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue with the ongoing reforms, with the aim of creating better working conditions for employees, aiming at a more active and assertive diplomacy.

“Thus, in the field of human resources, the qualification and rejuvenation program of its staff will continue, while at the same time ensuring career progression provided for by law, in addition to continuing with the modernization and reform actions in Administration and Finance, in the search for greater discipline, effectiveness and efficiency in the management of State assets”, highlights the document signed by Téte António.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, continues the official, will maintain the necessary efforts with a view to proceeding with the program of resizing of diplomatic missions and consular posts, thus adjusting their functioning to the country’s current economic and financial situation.

“The Angolan Diplomat’s Day, which is celebrated today (12), is associated with the 11th of November, National Independence Day, the greatest achievement of the Angolan people, celebrated this year in a unique environment of great challenges in view of the responsibilities to which we are affected within the scope of the Angolan mediation of the dispute between the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Rwanda”, concludes Téte António.
