Africa-Press – Angola. The 10th summit of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OEACP) is focused on promoting South-South cooperation to allow products and materials to circulate throughout the region to affirm the economies, considered yesterday the Secretary-General general of the OASCP.
In an interview on the sidelines of the organization’s 10th Summit, Georges Chikoti said that upon assuming the presidency, officially, on Friday, Angola has the “responsibility of continuing to relaunch the challenges that our countries have”, of asserting themselves among the major economies. .
The OEACP Summit in Luanda, which starts yesterday and ends Saturday, will also allow the Heads of State to approve documents and address different issues, as well as outline strategies for the future, in order to create valences to counteract the effects of world conflicts and change prices in the international economy.
“At this Summit, we are going to discuss solutions to affirm the economies of the African, Caribbean and Pacific States and give voice to small underdeveloped economies so that, in the global context, they can be recognized”, he highlighted.
The event is also promoting companies linked to OEACP Member States that already work in the transformation of products and showing that, despite the world conflicts, even so, economies persist.
The first day of the event, organized by the World Bank, was marked by moments of learning between the BM and twelve countries of the organization Business Friendly Program (friendly business), whose objective was to promote the sharing of experiences of reforms to improve the investment climate.
This program is a partnership with the European Union, the International Trade Center and the United Nations Agency for Industrial Development (UNIDO).
The event was attended by approximately 70 guests from 11 countries that benefit from the program.
The opening remarks were made by the organization’s general secretary, Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti, and by Victor Fernandes, Angolan minister of Industry and Commerce.
Albert G. Zeufack, director of the World Bank for Angola, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and São Tomé and Príncipe, also honored the event, as well as Mona Haddad, Global Director of the World Bank for Trade, Investment and Competitiveness, as well as other important figures from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and the International Trade Centre.
Thursday, still under the guidance of the BM, will focus on “talking about the future” and working with the public sector in search of solutions to create jobs, promote exports and create wealth, in general, among member countries.
Develop the value chain
The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Victor Fernandes, stressed that Angola wants to take advantage of the Summit to promote the national value chain and affirm the national economy.
For the person in charge, the program involves an associated business component and its main objective is to share visions on how the States of Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific can relaunch and create conditions for the productive value chains that involve micro, small and medium-sized companies are at the service of the development of their respective countries.
