Africa-Press – Angola. The Organization of African, Caribbean, Pacific States and the European Union have a joint package of 600 million euros to finance more than 20 projects linked to the agriculture sector, as part of the program called “AgriFi”.
This data was revealed yesterday by the assistant to the secretary general of the OEACP, Escipion Olivera Gomez, who said that the amount to be disbursed is intended to finance the promotion of cocoa, coffee, cotton, cassava, sugar cane, cashew, coffee, coconut , livestock, corn and agro-insurance.
“AGRIFI is a program that aims to help finance projects in the agriculture sector in the OEACP countries and is sponsored by the agencies of the development banks of the European Union. These agencies are working with the national and regional banks to guarantee the lines of credit for agricultural projects in favor of companies and cooperatives in OEACP countries”, he said.
For Escipion Gomez, the objective of this financing is to promote the industrialization of the member countries, mainly for the private sector, as it is the largest employer in the world.
“This AGRIFI program aims to create jobs and eradicate poverty. If we help Small and Medium Enterprises we will reduce unemployment rates in the world. We want to have a more prosperous society with integral development. Angola is a country that is part of this program, as well as like all AECP States, because we have a dream of having 79 developing countries in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific working together towards economic progress”, he concluded.
