Africa-Press – Angola. The Ministry of Justice and Human Rights (MINJUSDH), in partnership with the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) and the missions of the European Union and the United Nations in Angola, promotes, monday, at 9:00 am, in the Salão Nobre of the Catholic University (UCAN), a conference on the theme “the role of young people in the fight against corruption”, as part of the celebrations of the International Day against the phenomenon, marked on the 9th of the current month.
The event, according to a not, is aimed at UCAN students and the opening session will feature representatives of the Executive, the European Union, Paulo Barroso Simões, and the dean of the educational institution superior, Maria de Asuncion.
Also participating in the conference are representatives of the General Inspectorate of State Administration (IGAE), Attorney General’s Office (PGR), Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) and judges, as institutions for preventing and combating corruption, from whom it is expected the presentation of facts that may motivate the debate among those present.
The activity is justified by the imperative need to make young people aware of the role they can play, at various levels, in helping to fight corruption.
“The world faces some of the greatest challenges of many generations, which is corruption. Young people are the new generation, the guarantee for the world united against corruption”, reads, still, in the same note, which refers that corruption “threatens the stability and development of people around the world, with a negative impact on economic development and democracy”.
Paradigm change
The conference is part of the challenges assumed by the MINJUSDH in the fight against corruption. In this fight, the ministerial department has asserted, in various spaces for debating the phenomenon, the importance of discouraging other practices, such as money laundering and related crimes.
By promoting debate among students, the Ministry certainly hopes to awaken young academics to the importance of being prepared for the new paradigm that the country is seeing, as well as to strengthen ideas and find strategies on how best practices can be developed.
