Minister of Culture mourns the death of King Muene Mbandu IV

Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Filipe Zau, manifested himself this Friday, dismayed by the death of King Muene Mbandu IV, of the Mbunda community, which occurred Thursday, in the village of Lumbala Nguimbo, Moxico province.

King João Pedro Mussole, nicknamed Mwene Mbandu IV, was enthroned on October 8 of the current year, remaining on the throne for only 67 days.

In a note of condolences reached minister Filipe Zau addresses his deepest condolences to the bereaved family and the traditional authorities representing the Mbunda community.

João Pedro Mussole was born in the village of Lumbala Nguimbo, municipality of Bundas, province of Moxico, on October 30, 1958.

He was the 24th king according to the classification of supreme chiefs of Mbunda sovereignty.

With more than 15 million people originating from the Bantu peoples, the Mbundas occupy the territories of the municipalities of Bundas and Luchazes, province of Moxico, and extends to Cuando Cubango, as well as to the republics of Zambia, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Democratic Congo.
