Africa-Press – Angola. One hundred and 50 health professionals, including doctors, nurses and diagnostic and therapeutic technicians, are needed to minimize the problems experienced by health units in Mungo municipality, Huambo province.

This fact was revealed, this Monday, by the director of Health in the municipality of Mungo, Luís Cachequele, when noting that this number, including professionals in the hospital support area, can contribute significantly to improving the quality of medical care. /drugs intended.

The official informed that the need for staff, despite the regular holding of public tenders for entry into the Health sector, is essentially aimed at filling the number of deceased and retired professionals.

Luís Cachequele said that the health system in the municipality of Mungo, made up of 13 health units, has 290 workers, of which 16 are doctors, most of whom are in the city of Huambo, the seat of the province of the same name, specializing in medicine. Familiar, a fact that left the municipality practically without these professionals.

He said that there are 13 health units, a reference municipal hospital, with the capacity to admit 58 patients, five health centers and seven health posts, one of which was built this year in the Cambuengo commune, with funds from the Integrated Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM).

The person in charge made it known that the most frequent pathologies in the municipality are acute diarrhoea, respiratory diseases, intestinal parasites, hypertension, bronchitis and malaria.

With an area of ​​five thousand square kilometers, the municipality of Mungo, one of the 11 that make up the province of Huambo, has an estimated population of 148 thousand 516 inhabitants, spread over the communes of Cambuengo and Sede, according to recent data from the National Institute of Statistic.

The municipal seat of Mungo is located 130 kilometers north of the city of Huambo.
