Africa-Press – Angola. The youth of Bié asked the provincial government for projects that, in addition to social development, also offer more opportunities for employment, academic and professional training.

Speaking to press in the early hours of yesterday, university student Gustavo Strangway warns of the importance of public managers always seeking to listen to youth, before implementing a project in a given area, with the risk of investing a lot of money and not having adherence, having into account the need for employment.

Alice Jamba, 26 years old, also a student, advises the government to build more vocational training centres, in order to give young people a useful occupation and consequently reduce acts of vandalism and other evils in society.

He spoke of the importance of the executive investing seriously in combating ravines, which some almost separate inhabitants from neighbourhoods, building more drinking water systems and other productive projects to create jobs for young people.

The entrepreneur Nascimento António underlined the Government’s need to continue with the asphalting and earthworks of the roads, in the neighbourhoods, to facilitate the movement of people and goods, as well as to provide employment for the youth.

In the province of Bié, last year, 2,632 direct jobs and 10,274 indirect jobs were created, with the implementation of various projects under the Program to Support Production, Diversification of Exports and Substitution of Imports (PRODESI ).

Also in 2022, under the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), with a general portfolio of 160 projects and 66 actions, the province of Bié has so far completed 81 projects and 56 actions, with investments of around 36 billion 462 million 822 thousand 547 kwanzas and 80 cents, which created three thousand 463 jobs, both direct and indirect.

Meanwhile, the governor of Bié, Pereira Alfredo, in his speech to thousands of citizens, on New Year’s Eve, in the water mirror garden, in Cuito, guarantees to work to continue to develop the province, implementing projects that create job opportunities at youth.

The guidelines for the financial year of 2023, he said, are to continue investing in the education and health sectors, with the construction of more schools and health units, recovery of communication routes, agriculture (supporting peasants with inputs and training through field schools) and others, to enhance the province.

The official considered the performance of the previous year to be positive, taking into account the materialization of projects and actions, through the PIIM and the Program for Local Development and Combating Poverty.

He promised to increasingly strengthen cooperation ties with the business class, youth associations and bienos in general, for the good of all.
