Africa-Press – Angola. At least 1,923 ex-soldiers were socially reintegrated last year, revealed, Thursday (10), in Caxito, Bengo province, the minister of Social Action, Family and Promotion of Women (MASFAMU).
Faustina Alves said that, of the 1,923 ex-soldiers, a total of 694 were reinstated through the Integrated Program for Local Development and Fight against Poverty and another 1,229, through the distribution of tractors to agricultural cooperatives.
In the chapter on the Protection and Promotion of Children’s Rights, with a view to their integral development, Minister Faustina Alves said that, in the period under analysis, several actions were carried out to combat the various types of violence, with emphasis on improving the system and means of child protection.
For example, the minister highlighted that the SOS-Criança service, until December 2021, received 211 thousand complaints, of which 104 thousand were resolved.
Last year, he pointed out that a total of 302,044 households benefited from social monetary transfers, within the scope of the “Kwenda” Social Protection Strengthening Project.
The minister was speaking at the opening of the IV Consultative Council of the Ministry of Social Action, Family and Promotion of Women, which runs until the end of this afternoon, under the motto “Promoting Productive Inclusion as a Way to Fight Hunger and Poverty”.
Regarding the “Valor Criança” project, the official said that 18,399 children integrated into 14,000 families, whose ages range from zero to five years old, were benefited.
He explained that the productive inclusion component of “Kwenda”, with the engagement of civil society, in the implementation and monitoring actions, has already benefited a total of 16,924 families, corresponding to 84,620 people involved in various activities.
Faustino Alves said that MASFAMU has sought respond promptly to the basic needs of the main intervention groups, with particular emphasis on children, the elderly, women, people with disabilities, disasters, refugees and socially vulnerable families.
As for the gains from the Municipalization of Social Action, the minister said that the country has 53 CASI and 24 of these antenna systems, with services in neighborhoods and districts, which allowed 47,937 birth registrations and Identity Cards to be carried out.
Faustina Alves stated that domestic violence continues to constitute a strong threat to women’s health and an obstacle to their promotion and active participation in the country’s development.
Of the 11,744 cases registered by the Family Counseling Center, 8,853 were reported by women and 2,891 by men.
Regarding the demining process, the minister informed that, last year, extensions of areas corresponding to 1,916 hectares were checked and demined, where 4,207 anti-personnel mines, 770 anti-tank mines, 9,684 unexploded ordnance and 39,817 small-caliber ammunition.
Faustina Alves also advanced that the demining actions made it possible to clear extensions of areas for the construction of various infrastructures, such as 247 kilometers for the construction of electricity transmission lines, from mines and other unexploded ordnance. high, medium and low voltage, 747 kilometers of roads and 26 kilometers of water pipelines and irrigation channels.
“The Angolan Government, with the support of public demining operators and NGOs, has fulfilled the commitments assumed internationally, within the framework of the Ottawa Convention, as well as in achieving the 17 Millennium Sustainable Development Goals”, highlighted the Minister of Action.
