Africa-Press – Angola. The business portfolio between Angola and the Kingdom of Norway generated over USD 4 billion in 2024, with prospects of increasing to USD 5 billion this year, according to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of both countries.
According to the Chamber’s Chairperson, António da Silva, the business volume obtained in 2024 came mainly from the oil industry (approximately 97%).
António da Sílva gave this information, on Thursday (14), Luanda, when speaking during the business conference announcing the Annual Summit of African-Norwegian Businesspeople, to be held in October in Oslo, Norway.
At the time, he said that, despite the results achieved in trade talks between the two countries, there is a need to expand the business portfolio, including areas such as renewable energy, fishing, health, and technologies.
For this reason, he continued, the board of the Angola-Norway Chamber of Commerce had to meet with national businesspeople on Thursday to encourage them to participate in the aforementioned business summit.
He recalled that in 14 editions of this Summit, Angola will participate for the second time, after its debut in 2024, with the presence of the company “Domarnordico,” a company specializing in the processing and import of cod for the national market.
The participation of more than 30 Angolan businesspeople is expected for this edition, a business platform considered important for establishing agreements and expanding Norwegian investment in Angola.
The Angolan businessman Sílvio Santos has confirmed his presence at the event, aiming to attract new investment for his agricultural project located in the province of Bengo.
In statements, the businessman said that his project is focused on the cultivation of corn and soybeans, on an area of 10 hectares, with financing estimated at USD 6 million.
He added that his presence in Oslo will facilitate contact with Norwegian and African investors interested in his business, whose forecast corn and soybean harvests will serve as a “trump card” on this journey.
Diplomatic relations between Angola and the Kingdom of Norway began in 1977, and 2022 marked the establishment of the Chamber of Commerce, a milestone fueled by Angolan President João Lourenço’s state visit to Oslo three years ago.
