Africa-Press – Angola. The director of the provincial office for Social Action, Family and Gender Equality, Catarina Sebastião, today invited families in Lubango to reflect on the father’s role, not just as a financial provider.
Catarina Sebastião made this appeal at the ceremony celebrating Father’s Day, which is celebrated today, stressing that family members must combine efforts to be able to love, understand and look at the man, at the father, with a holistic vision, where they can provide happy moments, so that they can enjoy and exercise their role without difficulty.
“Family love is the basis of any manifestation of the person at all levels, because the child who comes into the world must naturally have a home that receives him, capable of providing support, affection, financial and emotional provision, and the father is the figure fundamental element of this structure, therefore it should not be seen only in the financial field”, he underlined.
The institutionalization of Father’s Day and the creation of the Pro-mudança parent association, known as PROMUDA, fell to the Government of Angola through the then Ministry of Family and Women’s Promotion in 2014, which, among its various objectives, regulates the balanced
relationship between parents and children, with the presence of the wife, with a view to providing a harmonious, peaceful and loving environment for the members of the respective families.
In Huíla, in 2018, a parents’ association was formed at the level of 14 municipalities.
