Africa-Press – Angola. The president of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Félix Thisekedi, landed this afternoon, in Luanda, at the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, for a meeting with his Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço.
Upon his arrival, for a visit of a few hours, the Statesman received greetings from the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, before going to Cidade Alta, to speak with João Lourenço.
Last Friday, the Angolan Parliament approved the President of the Republic to send a contingent of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) to support peacekeeping operations in the east of the country, for a period of 12 months.
Angola and DRC share 2,500 kilometers of land border. The Congo River, the main “river corridor” of the DRC flows into the Atlantic Ocean in the Angolan part corresponding to the province of Zaire.
