Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan teacher Irene Guerra Marques, co-organizer of the Anthology of Angolan Poetry, entitled “Between the Moon, Chaos and Silence: The Flower”, was honored this Tuesday in Luanda, in an initiative by Mayamba Editora .

As part of the “Author of the month” project, the activity entitled “Applause for poetry”, in statements to the press, the organization’s editorial assistant, Edmira Manuel, said that the homage served to cherish the personality linked to culture, with studies and knowledge of Angolan letters.

He explained that the moment was also associated with the celebration of World Poetry Day and the author of the month, as a way of reflecting on poetry, encouraging a taste for reading and the elevation of literature.

For the honoree, the gesture generated in itself a feeling of joy as it saw several students and for being a celebration of Angolan poetry and poets in general.

Irene Guerra Marques stressed that this recognition of her accomplishments in poetry and culture itself was an important moment, while she was still alive, so that she could witness the noble and small gesture, but of great value for herself and her career.

He added that Angolan literature is on the right path, as he feels that there are already many young people dedicating themselves to this cause and with great quality.

He ended by saying that the action should be extended to other artists, as there are many who have done their best so that the country shines in the chapter of Angolan poetry and literature.

Born in Luanda, with a degree in Romance Philology from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra, she was a professor of French Language and Portuguese Language and Literature, directed the Institute of National Languages ​​and later, director of the National Institute of Artistic and Cultural Training, performed the main adviser to the Deputy Minister of Education and Culture for Educational Reform, among other activities.
