Head of State praises the bravery of the combatants of the Battle of Cuito Cuanavale

Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, praised, this Thursday, the bravery of the Angolans and Cubans who fought against the invasion of the South African segregationist regime, in the Battle of Cuito Cuanavale.

The greeting is expressed on the official page of the President of the Republic on the Facebook social network, on the occasion of March 23, the Liberation Day of Southern Africa, which is celebrated today.

In the publication, the Angolan Head of State encourages young people to follow the heroic example of the brave fighters, and never give in to any attempt that threatens the peace and territorial integrity of the country.

“Well done to the heroes of Cuito Cuanavale! Well done to the defenders of freedom, peace and territorial integrity!”, the publication reads.

Today, throughout the SADC region, the Liberation Day of Southern Africa is celebrated, a date dedicated to the Battle of Cuito Cuanavale, which took place in this municipality in the Angolan province of Cuando Cubango and which was decisive for the independence of Namibia and the end of the regime of apartheid in South Africa.
