Africa-Press – Angola. The literary work “Coisas que não se diz” by the Huila author, Professor Elavoko, is in the process of being republished, as it is almost sold out in bookstores, the writer announced Wednesday.
The work, launched in November 2021, was “well received” by lovers of reading and due to the repercussions, especially on social networks, it is already working on its re-edition, said the also secondary school teacher.
“Things that are not said” is a work that addresses social phenomena considered taboo or sensitive for public debate, but with many incidences in society. Topics such as pornography, sexual abuse and others are highlighted in the book.
The work is a consequence of the life experience of the author who intends to help society with knowledge of various subjects in approach. It was edited and published by Brasileira Yoleli, counting five thousand copies and the new version should bring new elements, according to the author.
The book, the first published by the author, already launched and presented in the country’s 18 provinces, is available throughout the country.
Professor Elavoko stated that he invested in publicizing the book, mainly on social networks.
“The sales level is still not what I want, I intend to sell up to 25,000 copies, so I have been, through the media, looking for ways to publicize it, a process that needs to be converted into sales, as it is a publication that has not had sponsorships,” he said.
He stressed that the re-edition will be an extension of one of the chapters that was not finished, because at the time he wrote it he was going through a “delicate phase”, as well as foreseeing the rectification of some aspects, whose re-edition should come out in November.
He highlighted that it is a book that is having a “great impact” because of its content, the way it is said and how it is said, personal motivations and those of others.
He mentioned that he has another work in the pipeline, entitled “Ilhas Humanas”, an addendum to the book “Coisas que não se diz”, which is more than 80 percent closed, which brings to light situations of existential crisis, with his own experiences of depression and of other people.
He added that he was also working on a dramatic novel “Lágrimas de Sangue” and on another work about the results of experiences, called “Prontos spoken”.
For the teacher, being an author in Angola is an arduous challenge, because people don’t go to bookstores and books are not yet a product that sells, and the most bought are academic ones, so he brings this provocation to break the way they are selling books, marketing on social media and wherever you are.
Professor Elavoko is the pseudonym of Deolindo Divine Latino Elavoko, an Angolan writer, teacher and social influencer trained in education sciences by ISCED-Huíla, specializing in Mathematics. He is a speaker and content creator, residing in Lubango and born in Bié.
