Africa-Press – Angola. The Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone (ZEE) recorded, in 2021, a growth of 21 percent in its financial results, compared to the previous year, which correspond to a cash flow of 4.1 billion kwanzas.

From 2018 to December 2021, the ZEE saw an investment of 12.6 billion kwanzas, equivalent to 23.6 million dollars. Between 2020 and 2021, there was a growth of 106 percent, compared to receipts in 2020 (2.4 billion kwanzas) and 2021 (5.0 billion).

The statistics were presented yesterday by the chairman of the Board of Directors of the ZEE, António Henriques da Silva, when speaking in the first edition of CeféCipra (dialogue with government officials), an initiative of the Press Center of the Presidency of the Republic, which aims, in regularly, bring together members of the Executive, journalists and specialists in different subjects, to review the results of the different programs.

The variation in linear growth presented, according to António Henrique da Silva, represents the impact of the reforms implemented by the Executive, with a view to improving the business environment, despite the adversities that the world economy has been facing for some years, as a result of the global economic crisis. and the effects of the pandemic.

The net result obtained with investments in the ZEE, in 2018, corresponds to 2.6 billion kwanzas, with a cash flow of 1.8 billion, while, in 2019, liquidity decreased by 11 percent, to 2 .3 billion, with a cash flow of 2.6 billion, a result influenced by the restrictions with Covid-19.

The figures advanced by António Henriques da Silva point to the creation of 6,300 jobs by the end of 2021, which corresponds to an increase of 63.6 percent compared to 2018, when 3,850 direct jobs were accounted for. .

Dividends

In global terms, the Luanda-Bengo ZEE obtained, from 2018 to 2021, dividends corresponding to 67.7 million kwanzas and a participation in taxes of 38.4 million. Until 2018, 50 units were operating in the ZEE, 24 of which were industrial companies and 32 were private projects. In the following two years, 19 new production units came into operation, 17 of which operate in the industrial sector and two in the logistics sector.

António Henrique da Silva underlined the fact that some of the production units in the EEZ are exporting condensed milk to the Democratic Republic of Congo, cement to the Ivory Coast and the DRC and hospital products (compresses and gases) to Portugal, with prospects of being open other markets in Africa.
