Africa-Press – Angola. Six hundred companies and institutions have confirmed their participation in the 22nd edition of the largest business fair in the south of the country, “Expo-Huíla,” taking place from the 20th to the 25th of this month in the city of Lubango, Huíla province.
The trade fair, with a 17 percent increase in exhibitors compared to the previous edition, is part of the 123rd edition of the Nossa Senhora do Monte Festival, which has been taking place since the beginning of this month.
In a statement Sunday, the president of the Huíla Agricultural, Commercial, and Industrial Association (AAPCIL), Paulo Gaspar, stated that 280 stands have been set up so far, representing various sectors of the economy, including banking, insurance, commerce, tourism, and agriculture, considered the event’s main focus.
Alongside the companies, Paulo Gaspar said that the Expo will feature the 23 municipalities of the Huíla province, which will showcase their productive potential, aligned with the event’s motto “Agro + Technology = Future.”
He noted that in terms of business, the organization estimates a transaction volume exceeding 150 million kwanzas, as well as the establishment of new business partnerships, although many contracts established during previous editions have been carried over to this year, particularly in the agricultural sector.
On the international front, he said, companies from Portugal, Spain, Italy, Namibia, South Africa, and, for the first time, Zimbabwe have confirmed their participation, in addition to representatives from other neighboring provinces, such as Namibe, Cunene, Benguela, Cuando, and Cubango.
“We already have 60 percent of the booths completed, with major companies finishing assembling their structures. Despite the increased space, demand continues to outstrip supply, which demonstrates the impact and scale of Expo-Huíla,” he said.
He added that the five-day event is expected to generate 600 direct temporary jobs, in addition to more than two thousand indirect jobs created around the Nossa Senhora do Monte Festival. He said that Expo-Huíla reaffirms itself as the main platform for promoting the economic and cultural potential of Huíla and the southern region of the country.
