Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan, Cuban, Namibian and South African entities took part, this Sunday, in the city of Pretoria, South Africa, in the commemorative ceremony of the 35th anniversary of the Battle of Cuito Cuanavale, marked on the 23rd of March this year.

́The activity had the participation of members of the MPLA, SWAPO, ANC, embassies of Angola and Cuba.

All speeches converged around the importance of the date for the liberation of Southern Africa, brotherhood and solidarity of peoples, preservation of peace, consolidation of democracy and economic stability.

They also highlighted the bravery of valiant fighters who with the support of Cuba and the former USSR and their leaders at the time and particularly the role of the President Emeritus of Angola, José Eduardo dos Santos.

The MPLA militant, Adams Queta, highlighted the excellent cooperation relations between Angola and South Africa and the legacy that the results of the “Battle of Angola” leave for new generations.

On his turn, the counselor of the Embassy of Angola in South Africa, Eduardo Joaquim Kondua, highlighted the role of Angola for the end of Apartheid, independence of Namibia and release of Nelson Mandela.
