Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan presidency of the CPLP will seek the necessary partnerships at an internal and external level for the materialization of actions and projects, some of which are continuity of the previous presidencies. The revelation was made on Friday by the Angolan ambassador to Equatorial Guinea, António Luvualu de Carvalho.
The diplomat presented, in Malabo, to the diplomatic corps of the CPLP countries and to senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of that country the “Strategic Objectives” of the Angolan Presidency in the organization, with emphasis on the implementation of the “Economic Pillar”, approved at the last Summit of Heads of State and Government, held in Luanda, last July.
In addition to knowing the objectives of the Angolan Presidency in the CPLP, the meeting also served for the Heads of Diplomatic Mission to approve the document, which formalized the creation of the Group of Ambassadors of the CPLP, in Malabo.
Proposed by Angola last September, the document is in line with the deliberation approved by the X Meeting of the CPLP Council of Ministers, held in Luanda, in June 2005, which created the so-called “CPLP Groups”.
The so-called “CPLP Groups” are made up of a minimum of three representatives of the countries of the Community before foreign governments or international organizations and their objective is to coordinate positions in relation to common interests, ensure the representation of the CPLP in international conferences, seminars and meetings, carry out joint efforts, when applicable , exchange information on the political and governmental reality of the country where they are located, support the holding of events organized within the scope of the CPLP and publicize the activities and achievements of the organization itself.
The meeting was attended by the ambassadors of Angola, Brazil, São Tomé and Príncipe, Portugal and senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea linked to the CPLP area.
Brazilian deputies approve Mobility Agreement
The Brazilian Chamber of Deputies has already approved the Mobility Agreement of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP). The diploma is now in the Senate, also to be voted in favour, said, Friday, to the Lusa agency, the organization’s executive secretary, Zacarias da Costa.
“The approval of the Mobility Agreement by the Chamber of Deputies was very important. The process was fast. It was supposed to take six months, but it was fast and now it is also in the Senate to be approved. The Mobility Agreement is very important”, stressed the Timorese at the service of the CPLP Zacarias da Costa, who left for Brazil yesterday, for an official visit that starts today and runs until Wednesday, added that the CPLP mobility agreement, signed at the Summit of Heads of State and in July, in Luanda, has already entered into force in five of the nine member states, which have deposited the instruments of ratification with the organization’s Executive Secretariat: Cape Verde, São Tomé and Príncipe, Portugal, Guinea-Bissau and Mozambique.
Of the remaining CPLP member states, the only one that has not yet provided information on the progress of the approval process is Equatorial Guinea, he said. On Wednesday, the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies approved the agreement on the mobility of the CPLP and, according to an official note, “the matter will be sent to the Senate”, do to the CPLP member states, with only, after Brazil, a visit to Equatorial Guinea (in March), Cape Verde (April) and Timor-Leste (May). at the opening session of the 2nd International Conference on Portuguese and Spanish Languages (CILPE), which takes place from 16 to 18 February, in Brasília.
The CPLP is co-organizing the event, the first edition having been held at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, in Lisbon, in 2020. An event whose theme is “Languages, Culture, Science and Innovation”, and which is promoted by the Organization of Iberian-American States Americans for Education, Science and Culture, in partnership with the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the CPLP.
