Africa-Press – Angola. The Vila Clotilde team faces Petro de Luanda on Sunday, in the country’s capital, in a semi-final game (play-off, best of five) of the National Senior Men’s Basketball Championship.
Vila Clotilde’s formation reached the aforementioned stage of the competition, winning Friday, at the Victorino Cunha pavilion, 1o de Agosto B, by 96-84.
In an initial quarter guided by balance, the hosts came out with a 23-22 advantage. In the following, despite the reply, Vila was also ahead by just 44-42.
The visiting team consolidated the victory in the third quarter, period with greater ball circulation and effectiveness in free throws, triumphing by 72 -61.
Already in the last stage, the Vilarenses did not miss the victory of 96-84, guaranteed the passage to the semi-final.
The best scorer of the match, with 20 points, was Pedro Chita, from Vila Clotilde.
In the first challenge, the “military” won, by 100-87, and lost, in the second, by 75-72.
In the other semi-final, the teams from 1o de Agosto and Interclube play.
To reach the semi-final, Interclube eliminated Casa do Pessoa from Porto Lobito, and Petro de Luanda eliminated the Jesus Christ Baskteball team, also with a double triumph. Petro is the defending champion.
