Africa-Press – Angola. The first Provincial Football Championship for amputees in Huambo, opened on the 1st, is on a 15-day break due to the Easter celebrations.
According to the organization’s note, this Monday, the competition, which has the participation of four teams, resumes on the 16th, with the dispute of the second round.
JGM x Academia do Santo António and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Center Princesa Diana x Londuimbali face off.
In the first round, held over the weekend, in the municipality of Huambo, the team from the Center for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Princess Diana lost, by 0-1, against JGM do Huambo.
The lone goal of the match was scored by Gerónimo Vadi, in the 25th minute.
The competition, an initiative of the Provincial Sports Association for People with Disabilities of Huambo, aims to promote the social inclusion of this fringe, as well as the massification of the sport in the region.
For this purpose, the governing body of sport for amputees in the region opted to divide the team from Misto do Huambo, national champion in title, into three, making four in total for the local event, but for the purpose of national competitions it will regroup .
It is recalled that the competition will be disputed, in the first phase, in a system of all against all in three rounds.
The second and last stage will be in a two-legged direct elimination system, where the two winners will play in the final, while the others will play for third place.
The first round games were played on the field adjacent to the Princess Diana Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Centre, on the outskirts of this city, whose kick-off was guided by the deputy governor for Technical Services and Infrastructure of Huambo, Elmano Francisco Inácio.
In addition to the municipalities of Caála and Huambo, the games of this first provincial championship will also be held in Londuilbali and Longonjo.
