Africa-Press – Angola. Nineteen road accidents, with one dead and twenty-two injured, is the balance of police authorities in Benguela province, during the last long weekend.
According to the spokesman for the PN Provincial Command, superintendent Ernesto Tchiwale, the referred accidents were registered mainly in the municipalities of Lobito, Benguela and Catumbela.
Highlights include six pedestrians being run over, five collisions with fixed obstacles, two skidding and one collision between motorbikes.
The official pointed out speeding, recklessness and drunk driving as the presumed causes of the accidents.
Still in the context of road accidents, four citizens involved in these accidents were arrested.
As for criminality, 51 (+13) miscellaneous crimes were registered, 31 (+13) were clarified and 25 citizens indicted in the commission of the referred crimes were arrested.
In the period under review, there were also 51 crimes against people, as well as 31 against property.
A pistol-type firearm, two motorcycles, four butane gas cylinders and 42 portions of narcotics were seized.
On the other hand, seven corpses were removed from the public road due to presumed pathological deaths.
Ernesto Tchiwale considered that, despite the referenced numbers, the long weekend was calm.
