Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, spoke by telephone earlier this afternoon with his counterpart from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Tshisekedi, to address the evolution of the peace process in the east of this country.

The information, released this Thursday on the official page of the Presidency of the Republic on Facebook, adds that the two statesmen spoke specifically about the cantonment of the M 23 forces, in accordance with the understandings reached within the framework of the mediation exercised by the President of the Republic of Angola.

The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, chairs the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (CIRGL) and is also the African Union (AU) mediator in the crisis between Rwanda and the DRC.

Recently, the National Assembly (AN) of Angola approved the dispatch of a unit from the Support Contingent to Peacekeeping Operations of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), within the framework of the peace and security process in the DRC.
