Africa-Press – Angola. Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM) in Huíla already directly benefits more than 38 thousand people with the construction of new health units, schools, water and energy supply systems, which are part of the 168 works already completed.
The PIIM in Huíla has a portfolio of 226 projects, four of which are central in scope. Of the total, 168 are completed, 48 are in progress, representing 98 percent of the province’s portfolio. The rest are in tender procedures.
At Central level, the project is underway to build four bridges and to rehabilitate a road in the municipality of Caconda, as well as building and equipping municipal infrastructure in Chipindo and Cuvango, as well as the Matala jail.
The financial execution of the province is 42 billion, three million and 90 thousand 438 kwanzas, of more than 50 billion kwanzas, distributed in 11 sectors.
The information was provided by the director of the provincial Study, Planning and Statistics Office of the Government of Huíla, Rosa Luanda, noting that the province has a portfolio of projects in the sectors of agriculture, housing, culture, environment, social equipment, energy and water, health, education and means of communication.
He highlighted the municipalities of Cacula, Chibia and Humpata, as the only ones, out of the 14 in the province, with the total physical execution of their project portfolio.
The education sector, according to the official, holds close to 73 percent of the province’s project portfolio, aimed at building and equipping schools with seven and 12 classrooms, follows health, embodied in the construction of municipal hospitals, centers and medical stations.
In the area of energy and water, Rosa Luanda highlighted projects for the rehabilitation and expansion of distribution systems at the headquarters of some municipalities.
The source informed that the construction of dwellings and evolutionary houses is in perspective, in order to improve the living conditions of the populations, with urbanization, basic sanitation and energy and water.
The implementation of the PIIM in Huíla, according to the source, allowed the creation of 5,148 permanent and temporary jobs over the years 2020 and 2022, with the infrastructure and education sectors being the ones that employ the most, with 31.4 percent and 28.1 percent of the jobs foreseen in the plan.
Rosa Luanda foresaw an increase in job offers that will lead to an increase in nominal wages, so measures to contain inflation are recommended so as not to jeopardize the real wage and not to condition the positive effects of the increase in employment.
He expressed among the constraints, the generalized rise in prices as a result of the current economic situation and the lack of budget in essences when assigning quota, which delays the effectiveness of payments.
