Africa-Press – Angola. The governor of Bengo, Maria Antónia Nelumba, yesterday highlighted the province’s potential, saying that it has everything to win and attract investors to contribute to changing the current socio-economic panorama of the region.

The minister made this statement at the 1st provincial socio-economic forum in Bengo, stressing that the province not only has natural resources to explore, but also legal instruments that safeguard the interests of investors, adding that all bureaucratic barriers that , somehow inhibited foreign investment.

Maria Nelumba asked representatives of Angola’s chambers of commerce and the diplomatic corps to carry the message of the government of Bengo to attract investors to the province.

“We have, throughout the entire length of our territorial space, fertile land for the cultivation of an infinity of agricultural products, a maritime coast, lakes and lagoons that allow the development of fishing and tourist activity of sea and sun”, he enumerated.

He admitted that the province needs more technical-professional schools with cutting-edge technology and universities for teaching, research and technological innovation, as well as food processing units to increase the job offer.

The provincial socio-economic forum of Bengo took place under the motto “Bengo, transform to develop”, and was part of the celebrations of the 43 years of existence of the province, which is celebrated today.

During the event, topics such as “Current situation of the mining sector: Exploitation of gold, aggregates and other miners”, “Current situation of tourism and investment needs”, “Project of the free zone of Barra do Dande” and “Necessity of staff training: human capital and scientific research”.

To commemorate the date, the program also includes, which ends on April 30th, a campaign to plant Mangroves, 11 football and futsal tournaments, cultural soirée, theater festival, music-cultural marathon, gala night, provincial grand prize in cycling and a Thanksgiving Mass.

The province of Bengo was created by virtue of Law no 3/80, of April 26, with the capital being the village of Caxito and currently has six municipalities (Dande, Ambriz, Nambuangongo, Dembos, Bula Atumba and Pango Aluquém) .

It has a territorial extension of 24,173.15 square kilometers and an estimated population of 515,967 inhabitants, who are mainly dedicated to subsistence agriculture, artisanal fishing and hunting.
