Africa-Press – Angola. The Attorney General of the Republic, Hélder Pitta Gróz, defended this Wednesday, in Luanda, the involvement of all members of Angolan society, including sovereign bodies, for the success of the fight against corruption in the country.
Speaking to the press at the end of the swearing-in ceremony for the Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General of the Republic, Hélder Pitta Gróz stated that there is, on the part of the members of this body, “the will to fight corruption in the country, but that it takes the commitment of all members of society”.
For the prosecutor, who was re-elected for a five-year term, it is essential that the fight against corruption continues.
On the other hand, he spoke of the problems that the institution faces, in terms of human, material and financial resources.
On the issue of remuneration and other social conditions of public prosecutors, technicians and employees, the prosecutor stated that there is currently ongoing work with related unions.
“We are closing with the unions and other entities some diplomas that have to do with the remuneration status. We reached an agreement and now have the final document, to be submitted to the Executive for analysis and pronouncement”, he stressed.
Established in April 1979, the PGR is a body with the function of representing the State, namely in the exercise of criminal proceedings, defense of the rights of natural and legal persons, legality in the exercise of the judicial function and supervision of legality in the of preparatory instruction of the processes and the fulfillment of the sentences.
