The Angolan tennis player Jolino Simão occupied (Wednesday), in Luanda, the second position of the African Under-14 Circuit, in men, after losing against Marcus Simane, from Botswana, in the final game disputed in the courts ” from Academia Kikuxi Villas Club, in the Municipality of Viana.
In a singles match, after an unblemished course, the player from the National Team and from the Clube de Ténis de Luanda (CTL) was unable to impose himself on his opponent, losing by a difficult two sets to one, with partials of 3- 6, 6-0 and 5-10 (tie break).
To reach the aforementioned final stage of the competition, included in the calendar of the International (ITF) and continental (CAT) Federation, in both sexes, the representative of the country beat (Tuesday) the Mozambican Rosa Amine, by 1-6, 6 -1 and 6-4, in the semi-final.
On the same day, the Angolan’s opponent in the final, Marcus Simane, knocked out fellow Mozambican Pedro Alberto.
The Mozambican duo of Lezley Jemusse/Amine Rosa, who overcame the Angolan duo of Joaquim Domingos/Jolino Simão, equally won 6-1.
As for the individual female sector, the triumph in the final went to Charle Chapepa (Zimbabwe) over Ndidi Osaji (Nigeria), by 6-0 and 61, after overcoming the Mozambicans Siena Esteves and Lorena Celestino, in the semi-finals on Tuesday fair.
In relation to the Angolan players, who in singles did not have the expected success, in pairs, with Ana João and Dandara Roque, they were also in second position, losing to the duo Charle Chapepa (Zimbabwe) and Ndidi Osaji (Nigeria), by 4 -6 and 3-6.
On Monday, in the quarterfinals, in singles, Ana João lost to Charle Chapepa, by two sets to zero, with the partials of 6-2 and 6-1, while Dandara Roque was defeated by the Mozambican Siena Esteves, by double 6-1.
The Angolan teams, male and female, were guided by coaches Gil Fortunato, residing in Portugal, and José Almeida, from Academia Kikuxi Villas Club.
Opened by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Palmira Barbosa, the event, which scores the ITF/CAT ranking, had fifty players representing Angola, Botswana, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Nigeria.
Organized by the Angolan Tennis Federation (FAT), in partnership with the Association of Luanda (APTL) and Kikuxi, the unprecedented event marks the beginning of Angola in the implementation of international competitions of the ITF and CAT, contributing to the sporting prestige of the country.
In the past decade, Angola has already hosted some international tournaments, such as the flag carrier (TAAG), the latter being more recent, as part of the Portuguese Speaking Countries Games (CPLP), on the fields of the Clube de Ténis de Luanda ( CTL), in Coqueiros, in 2014.
