US reiterates support for attracting foreign investment to Angola

Africa-Press – Angola. The minister-counselor of the US embassy in Angola and Sao Tome and Principe, Mary Emma Arnold, said yesterday, in Luanda, that her country will continue to support Angola’s objectives in attracting foreign investment and promoting trade and economic diversification.

The deputy head of the US diplomatic mission in Angola, visited the Special Economic Zone (ZEE) with the aim of verifying the potential and investment projects, as well as indicating potential business partnerships in areas that constitute business opportunities.

The diplomat considered the visit of her delegation to be useful and important, as it aimed at strengthening the existing relations between both countries, in the most varied domains, with the support of American companies interested in investing in Angola.

He also stressed that some of his government’s actions in relation to the new initiative for trade and investment in Africa are in partnership with agribusiness in Angola, thus helping investors in that sector to overcome barriers to exporting their products to new markets, including the United States of America.

For him, the ZEE could be an important instrument in accelerating economic development and job creation, as he stressed that areas like this boost the economy in the world and in Africa, in particular, is no exception to the rule.

He announced, on the other hand, that within a month a financial corporation from his country, in partnership with the “Prosper Africa” ​​initiative, will be in Luanda to identify projects, through which, investments in areas such as health, mineral resources, agriculture, among other sectors of the economy.

In this sense, the diplomat recommended continuing to fight corruption and having a transparent business environment, which is why her government is working to strengthen governance, accountability and the capacity to manage public finances in key institutions.

He considers Angola/United States relations “very solid” and that his country will continue to find ways to strengthen the strategic partnership and fulfill shared goals, focused on security, prosperity and good governance.

The diplomat visited, on her trip to the ZEE, the “Galvostahi” factories, dedicated to the manufacture of telecommunications towers, metallic structures, such as pedestrians, water tanks, containers, as well as the hospital means factory, with emphasis on gases.
