Africa-Press – Angola. The Prosecutor of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) in the Eastern Military Region is without prosecutions of crimes of corruption, in most cases, due to lack of complaints, informed, this Wednesday, in Luena, the Public Prosecutor, Manuel Mateus .
Speaking to the press, after speaking on “The role of the PGR in combating corruption in the defense bodies”, within the scope of the “legality week”, the magistrate said that in the last two years the institution has not instructed corruption proceedings in the corporation.
He pointed out the lack of legal culture and complaints as factors that have prevented the investigation and opening of cases against this criminal typology.
Despite this, he reiterated that corruption is a phenomenon, the fight against which requires the participation of all members of the national security forces, avoiding practices that incur in this crime.
“Corruption in the Armed Forces corrodes society, endangering the security of the State, which is why we must be implacable in its fight,” he maintained.
In order to achieve this objective, he continued, it is necessary that the security forces, being the moral reserve of society, be equipped with legal knowledge.
The Legality Week, which runs from the 24th to the 28th, under the motto “The Public Ministry in defense of the public interest and the fundamental rights of citizens in administrative justice”, is being marked by lectures, visits and philanthropic activities.
The Attorney General’s Office, founded on the 27th of April 1979, is a State body with the function of representing the State, in carrying out criminal proceedings, defending the rights of other natural and legal persons, in addition to supervising the legality.
