Africa-Press – Angola. The chairman of the Panel for the Development of the Sahel Region, Mahamadou Issoufou, highlighted this Thursday, in Luanda, the experience of peace and reconstruction in Angola that can contribute to the peace of other countries in Africa.

Mahamadou Issoufou, who left Luanda yesterday, where he stayed for three days, also highlighted the role played by the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, in the search for consensus and peace.

In the Angolan capital, the official consulted the President of the Republic, regarding the concerted mission with the African Union (AU), ECOWAS and the Sahel G5.

According to the former president of Niger, the consultation mission comprises 18 countries from the Sahel, Sahara and ECOWAS region, all of which are currently involved in the reconstruction of their territories.

During the audience with João Lourenço, a strategic and security assessment of the African Union was made, adopted for the development of the States of the Sahel and other regions of the continent.

The Sahel region includes Senegal, Burkina Faso, Gambia, Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Algeria, Cameroon, Nigeria, Chad, Sudan and South Sudan.
