Africa-Press – Angola. The chairman of the Ethics Committee of the Port of Luanda, Inglês Pinto, this Friday appealed to public and private managers to withstand external pressures that could lead to behaviors that jeopardize investments and the country’s sustainable development.

According to the official, public servants need to have the ability and firmness to resist misconduct, resorting to laws, rules, regulations and management principles, with ethics and deontology for the best decision-making.

In an interview to the press, on the sidelines of the Integrity Policy Forum – applicability challenges in the Angolan maritime, port and logistics sub-sector, Inglês Pinto stated that “it is not possible to think about the country’s development, social stability and improving the image of the State , without assessing the performance of bodies and institutions, whether in the public or private sector”.

In turn, the representative of the Ethics Committee of the Port of Namibe, Carlos Pacatolo, indicated that the instruments of the integrity policy are mechanisms to ensure the investments of the Executive.

Among the instruments of integrity, the regulation of conduct and ethics, risk prevention plan, sustainability and communication of irregularities stand out.

On the occasion, the president of the Angolan Association of Ethics and Sustainability (AAES), Zeferino Estêvão Juliana, said that it is necessary to effectively assess integrity, in its corporate application, to combat corruption, fraud and other illegalities.

The Integrity Policy Forum – applicability challenges in the Angolan maritime port and logistics sub-sector, co-organized by the Ethics Committee of the Port of Luanda, aims to promote reflections on ethics, conduct, corporate governance and good practices in this Public business segment.
