Africa-Press – Angola. The national secretary of the Revolutionary United Youth of Angola (JURA), Manuel da Costa Ekuikui, on Thursday, in Ndalatando, Cuanza Norte province, urged young people to promote patriotic training and citizenship, aiming to raise awareness among the population so that they demand respect for their rights.
Manuel Ekuikui, who was speaking at the inauguration of the provincial secretary and the deputy provincial secretary of the UNITA youth organization, underlined that the fight for the democratization of the country must be carried out through education and awareness of the population, who will consciously know how to defend their rights and fulfill their duties.
He appealed to young people for courage, bravery, tenacity, and, above all, to strive for the truth.
The politician referred that it is no use for militants and young people to continue to complain about the state of the country, but they should promote actions with communities and the population in order to awaken them about the need to fight for their rights.
He stated that these rights aim at promoting human development, which involve the creation of good health, education, public and legal security services, as well as the creation of conditions that allow for the preparation of three meals a day.
He added that the fight for promoting social justice in the country should be transferred to the people, who experience the main difficulties in their daily lives.
“What do we do? stop wasting time with them, let’s be together with the people. It is not worth just spending all the time crying and lamenting, it is not the way, the way is to seek the strength of the people”, he stressed.
Manuel Ekuikui exhorted the newly elected youth organization’s management to be aware of the challenges they were facing, such as working with the population in the villages to help the people to awaken their conscience.
On his turn, the secretary of UNITA in the province, Francisco Fernandes Falua, called on the young people elected to head the JURA in Cuanza Norte to work towards winning victories in the next general elections and in the local authorities.
On the occasion, Edvaldo Rosário Paulino Cabral and Delfina Manuel Mateus took office as provincial secretary and provincial secretary of JURA, respectively.
