Governor of Zaire wants to reinforce the legal education of the population

Africa-Press – Angola. The governor of the province of Zaire, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, this Friday asked public magistrates to take legal education to the most remote communities in the region, in order to reach more citizens.

Speaking at the closing act of the week of legality, in reference to the 44th anniversary of the institutionalization of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), the government official pointed out, as examples, the municipalities of Nóqui, Cuimba, Nzeto and Tomboco.

He stated that the legal education of citizens is also a way to combat injustice and exclusion in access to information.

“Raising citizens’ legal awareness contributes to fulfilling the Executive’s desire, which aims to combat corruption, nepotism, fuel smuggling and other vices that plague society”, he underlined.

On the other hand, the governor of Zaire once again lamented the fact that the region receives the most fuel (gasoline and diesel) in the country, but it is the one that is most lacking in this area.

He therefore asked for greater articulation of all bodies involved in the administration of justice to combat fuel smuggling into the DRC, a phenomenon which he considered to be responsible for this shortage.

Adriano Mendes de Carvalho said that fuel smuggling has been conditioning the development of the local economy and jeopardizing national security, in addition to inhibiting national and foreign investment.

He underlined that this disease also congests the normal activity of taxi drivers, motorcycle taxi drivers and other productive sectors existing in the province.

For him, the local justice bodies must be aligned and committed to the political will of the holder of the Executive Power, João Lourenço, in the fight against the many evils that still plague Angolan society.

“We are certain that, if there is a serious commitment, in this sense, we will be able to win this battle in the fight against corruption, fuel smuggling and illegal immigration and other evils”, he reinforced.

On the occasion, he expressed concern about the slowness of justice bodies in the province in clarifying and resolving some cases involving intentional and related crimes, which is why he asked for the reversal of this situation.

He referred to the increased responsibility of justice administration agents in consolidating the democratic and lawful state.

He recommended that public servants, at all levels, respect the rights of citizens who seek public services, within the framework of established laws, in the same way he encouraged users to denounce possible violations.

The Deputy Attorney General of the Republic and coordinator of the North Judiciary Region, Neto Joaquim Neto, public prosecutors, judges, members of the government, deputies to the National Assembly took part in the closing act of the week of legality in Zaire.

Also present were members of defense, security and internal order bodies, traditional and ecclesiastical authorities, among other invited individuals.

Under the motto “Prosecutor’s Office in defense of the public interest and fundamental rights of citizens in administrative justice”, activities around the event took place from the 24th to the 28th of the current month, across the country.
