Africa-Press – Angola. Five million dollars will be used, over the next five years, by the United States of America, to expand and strengthen training in English for soldiers of the Angolan Armed Forces, within the framework of bilateral cooperation.
In this context, this Friday, in Luanda, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of National Defense and Veterans of the Homeland and the US Embassy in Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe, under the FAA English Language Program .
The support of the USA occurs through the financing of the International Initiative for Military Education and Training (IMET, acronym in English), aiming to support the English Language Program in the FAA, and since 2004, this mechanism has allowed the training of 31 instructors of English in this country.
It was in this context that, through the approval of the Congress of the United States of America, the Embassy in Angola received an additional five million dollars.
The new funding is aimed at training more English instructors, strengthening the English curriculum and program management aspects, as well as providing training materials and labs to identified locations over the next three to five years.
The implementation and daily management of the said project will be the responsibility of the Security Cooperation Office (USA) and the National Directorate of Defense Policy (Angola).
