Africa-Press – Angola. The governor of the province of Luanda, Manuel Homem, highlighted, this Friday, the efforts made by the Angolan Government in the fight against corruption, within the framework of its vision for the social and economic improvement of the country.
The government official, who was speaking at the opening of the public consultation ceremony of the National Strategy for the Prevention and Repression of Corruption (ENAPREC) project, stressed that schools are essential to raise men’s awareness, from an early age, with regard to the need to reduce corruption index.
In this context, he highlighted the fact that several actions are under way in the country with the aim of creating a better environment in which ENAPREC stands out.
He said that the ENAPREC project includes, among its axes, the promotion of integrity and transparency in the management of the treasury, the improvement of service provision in all sectors and the involvement of citizens in the prevention and repression of corruption.
In his speech, he also highlighted the mission, vision and values of the strategy, namely the recognition of the need to mitigate the impact of corruption, the appreciation of good governance and accountability, with a view to the economic and social development of the country.
As for the vision, Manuel Homem stressed that the project should become a reference instrument in the prevention, detection and repression of corruption and related criminality, with a view to strengthening citizens’ trust in public institutions.
He highlighted legality, probity, respect for public property, impartiality, pursuit of the public interest, responsibility, accountability and transparency as the project’s structuring values.
ENAPREC was launched by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), in coordination with the General Inspectorate of State Administration (IGAE) and the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights.
The project was prepared by the Technical Group, created by Presidential Order No. 176/19, of 21 October, in charge of carrying out studies and drawing up proposals and mechanisms for the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption.
