Africa-Press – Angola. Angola needs to develop dynamic operations in the fisheries, tropical fruits and coffee sectors to boost exports and boost the diversification of the national economy, considered, this Tuesday, the director general of the National Institute of Infrastructures of Angola Quality (INIQ), Olga Dicamba.

The official points out that the wealth and agricultural potential have already been demonstrated, however, she clarifies, that there is a need for national products to observe the requirements and certification processes for their internationalization and for Angolan companies to export products made in Angola.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop on joint training of national quality infrastructures, Olga Dicamba said that it was necessary to invest in this type of structure, particularly in the agri-food sector, in conjunction with improvements in the logistics network, transport, cold chain facilities , as well as intensifying measures on sanitary and phytosanitary structures.

For the feat, the official understands that it is imperative to develop the national industry, attract sustainable investment to these sectors, develop the technical and professional component.

According to the director, fulfilling these requirements and improving the efficient functioning of domestic markets, national products will have easier access to international markets.

For this reason, the director-general of the National Institute of Quality Infrastructures (INIQ) considers the joint training workshop of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD)-International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to be fundamental, on the theme “Quality National Infrastructures for the Agro-Food Sector”, focusing on fishing, tropical fruits and coffee, with the aim of leveraging the diversification of the economy, regional integration and promoting exports.

“The aim is to develop a set of actions, with the aim of leveraging the diversification of the country’s economy, regional integration and promoting exports of non-oil products”, he argued.

For Olga Dicamba, this training action encourages national producers and exporters with a set of tools to increase the volume of fish products and other agricultural products for different markets, particularly in Europe.

The director added that, for three days (9, 10 and 11), the workshop will bring together national and international specialists, as well as technicians from different sectors of society to jointly address the issue of quality infrastructure in Angola.

Participating in the joint UNCTAD-ISSO training workshop are representatives of public and private institutions working in the fisheries, fruit and coffee sectors.

The “Train for Trade II” Programme, for the training and capacity building aspect, is financed by the European Union, in an amount of around 6 million euros.
