Africa-Press – Angola. The ambassador of the United States of America to Angola, Tulinabo Mushingi, reaffirmed, last Friday night, his interest in cooperating with Angola in promoting prosperity, security and good governance.
Speaking at the ceremony marking the 30th anniversary of the official establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the diplomat reaffirmed his commitment to helping Angola establish a “vibrant democracy” based on strong, transparent and responsible partnerships.
He informed that American advisers support Angola in debt management, prevention of money laundering and strengthening the ability of prosecutors to investigate, prosecute and recover “stolen” assets.
He reaffirmed continued support for democratic reforms in Angola, funding programs to promote voter education, strengthen the capacity of political parties and prepare for local elections.
He believes that continued reforms, including the fight against corruption and municipal elections, will ensure responsive and accountable government.
Tulinabo Mushingi praised the Angolan leadership in the promotion of peace and security in the transatlantic region, as well as reported the American support in the training of military personnel, modernization of equipment for the maintenance of stability and cybernetic security and in the fight against terrorism and piracy in the Gulf of Guinea.
He stressed that as a regional peace and security force, Angolan leadership will help to ensure a peaceful, safe and prosperous Atlantic region.
He praised the investment of tens of billions of dollars, by about 70 American companies, in job creation.
The diplomat informed that in the last 30 years his country has invested more than 650 million to strengthen the health and education systems in Angola, pointing out actions in the areas of prevention of malaria, AIDS, COVID-19, literacy and in American universities.
Projections
He said he believes that in the next 30 years Angola, one of the largest oil and gas producers in sub-Saharan Africa, can be at the forefront of the clean energy revolution and lead the way in preserving the Okavango delta for future generations.
The commemorative ceremony of 30 years of official cooperation relations between Angola and the United States of America was witnessed by deputies, government officials and businessmen involved in business between the two States.
