Minister wants improvements in the execution of the program to combat poverty

Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Social Action, Family and Women’s Promotion, Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto, defended, this Tuesday, in Caxito, a better follow-up in the execution of the program to combat poverty, with a view to improving the quality of life of populations.

Speaking to the press, at the end of an evaluation visit, the minister said that, like other provinces, in Bengo, the Integrated Program for Local Development and Combating Poverty (PIDLCP) is progressing in the best way, with only some corrections.

“The program to combat poverty is one of the best programs that have been carried out in the country, its results are already visible in the communities, so we need to improve more and more”, he stressed.

Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto explained that for the fight against poverty, including the cost of school lunches, 28 million kwanzas/month are made available by each municipality in the country (in a total of 164), for a global value of more than four billion kwanzas.

According to the official, this visit is part of the monitoring and evaluation of the PIDLCP, training and refreshing for all the participants of the program to combat poverty, aiming to improve its execution.

It is intended, underlined Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto, with this evaluation that the intervenients perceive what Decrees 136 and 140 really reflect, in order to be able to see the program implemented with an impact on the life of the citizen.

For her part, the provincial governor of Bengo, Maria Antónia Nelumba, acknowledged the need to make some corrections so that all actions are carried out effectively.

“The program has been developed since previous years, naturally there are things that are going well and others that are going less well and it is then necessary to correct it so that it is carried out in accordance with what is recommended for the support of our populations”, he explained.

Maria Antónia Nelumba referred that the capacity building and institutional strengthening training aimed at municipal administrators, their deputies and municipal directors of the Study, Planning and Statistics Offices (GEPE) will allow greater action as is legislated to better serve the population.

With six municipalities (Dande, Ambriz, Nambuangongo, Dembos, Bula Atumba and Pango Aluquém) the province of Bengo has an estimated population of 515,967 inhabitants, most of whom are engaged in agricultural activity, artisanal fishing and hunting.
