Africa-Press – Angola. The construction of the first phase of the Corimba Marginal Infrastructure, in the municipality of Samba, Luanda, for which the contract award took place this Friday, will take one year and eight months.
The work is being carried out by the Portuguese company Mota-Engil, with financing from a Portuguese credit line.
The project includes maritime works and the construction of viaducts that will facilitate traffic flow, promoting greater safety and traffic efficiency, and boosting local socio-economic development.
The works, budgeted at €245,216,000, will focus on the construction of two road interchanges/viaducts, eight kilometers of urban roads, and 400 social housing units to rehouse families in the intervention areas.
The works, to be supervised by the DAR/GB consortium, will generate a thousand jobs and are in line with the National Development Plan 2023-2027, the National Program for the Requalification and Reconversion of Cities, Agenda 2063 of the African Union (AU) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
With its conclusion, it is expected, among others, to boost local commerce, create more tourist and leisure areas, real estate appreciation and reduce travel time in the Mausoleum António Agostinho Neto/Corimba section.
The consignment ceremony was chaired by the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, and witnessed by the Minister of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing, Carlos dos Santos, the Governor of Luanda, Luís Nunes, the Secretary of the President of the Republic for the Productive Sector, João Nkosi, as well as representatives of the Portuguese Embassy in Angola, traditional authorities and other entities.
