Africa-Press – Angola. A total of 38 elite runners, between women and men, are registered for the 1st International Peace Half Marathon, in Athletics, to take place on April 4, at 8:00 am, in Luanda, he said yesterday at a press conference. , the person in charge of CRDS Eventos, Carlos Rosa.

During the event, held at the Skyna Hotel, in Luanda, for the presentation of the technical teams and sponsors of the race, the official stressed that “registration for elite athletes is closed. We have already exceeded the number of elite athletes registered ” , said Carlos Rosa.

On March 25th, registration for national and popular athletes will be closed for the Half Marathon race, which will start at Rua das Kipakas and finish in front of the António Agostinho Neto Memorial.

For the international competition, the organization plans to register 1,000 athletes and 4,000 for the family competition. For this 21.0975 kilometer road race, riders from Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Kenya, Ethiopia and Bahrain are confirmed.

Long distance runners from these countries are expected on 1 April at 4 de Fevereiro International Airport. The following day, at 10:00 am, the elite distance runners will be presented at the press conference at the Skyna Hotel.

The competition will feature nine water supply stations for all runners to refresh.

Álvaro Cage said that the first station will be installed at the departure point, at Rua das Kipakas (Bungo area) and the last one on arrival, in front of the António Agostinho Neto Memorial, in Praia do Bispo. of water will be placed, with a separation of three kilometers each.

Carlos Rosa announced that the 1st Half Marathon is budgeted at 74 million and 523 thousand kwanzas. CRDS Sports and Cultural Events will also offer a bonus of 50 thousand dollars to the athlete who sets the new world record.

The winners of the race will receive six thousand dollars (equivalent to 3 million and 47 thousand kwanzas), each one. The Ugandan Jacob Kiplimo, 21, is the current record holder, with a time of 57 minutes and 31 seconds, set at the Lisbon Half Marathon last year.
