Africa-Press – Angola. Huíla author Alves Marcos Nambalo Mandela launched a literary work this Friday in Lubango, Huíla province, entitled “A Reflective Look at Lázaro Ndahondyapo’s Thought vs. the Knowledge of an Angolan Thinker.”

The 90-page work is dedicated to the posthumously honored university professor and teacher, Lázaro Ndahondyapo, who was recognized for his contributions to education and academic development in the country.

The work, divided into three parts, presents in the first section a biographical summary of the honoree and his perspective on education.

In the second, the author addresses pedagogical categories and principles advocated by Lázaro Ndahondyapo, illustrated with examples from the educational context, both urban and rural. The third section includes reflections on the importance of school meals for academic success, a recurring theme in the teacher’s discourse, which argued that “in hunger there is no common sense” and also encouraged “intellectual hunger” in the pursuit of knowledge.

In a statement on the sidelines of the book’s presentation, Alves Mandela stated that the book also brings together maxims used by teachers during the teaching-learning process, accompanied by analyses of the difference between maxims and proverbs, and includes contributions from family members to reconstruct aspects of the educator’s life.

He emphasized that Lázaro Ndahondyapo, a professor who taught for over 15 years at the Higher Institute of Educational Sciences (ISCED/Huíla) and died in 2021 from COVID-19, was more than a teacher; he was considered a father and friend to his students, instilling values such as patience, gratitude, and simplicity.

“The new generation should see this work as a guide and source of inspiration for the constant pursuit of knowledge, especially in the field of pedagogical teaching,” he emphasized.

He announced that 200 copies were initially printed by the Angolan publisher Bonifkal Publicações, with further editions planned. He said that the launch of the work will continue in the provinces of Cunene, the homeland of the honoree, and Luanda, responding to requests from family and admirers.
