Africa-Press – Angola. Three thousand head of cattle started Thursday (1), to be identified through the placement of rings in the ear, as part of the pilot phase of the animal registration process, promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
The ring placement system aims to contribute to the control of existing herds in the country, health, birth rate and slaughter.
According to the head of the department at the Malanje Veterinary Institute, José Sukumula, the pilot phase will cover five farms in Malanje.
He made it known that in addition to Malanje, the project also plans to cover the farms assisted by the INCATUK project that involves the Camabatela plateau (Cuanza Norte).
Without advancing the end of the pilot phase, the official added that after the registration of the farms, the identification of the animal population in the family sector will begin.
He said that the process will be carried out in all provinces, and after Malanje the teams will head to Cuanza Norte.
Meanwhile, animal breeders in the province applaud the initiative, considering that it will help in the inspection of the animal herd and in the availability of quality meat for the market.
