Africa-Press – Angola. 2,500 complaints, from a total of 23,624 families registered under the “Kwenda” Social Monetary Transfer program, in the municipality of Ombadja, Cunene province, are being catalogued, with a view to preparing new payments.
The information was provided this Wednesday, by the director of the Local Development Fund (FAS), Eduardo Chilunda, stressing that the process of proof of life of the households that benefited from the first installment, as well as the claims.
He said that the process, which runs from April 28 to June 15, aims to cross-reference the data of those registered, namely the non-inclusion of names in the re-registration process, stolen or lost payment cards, as well as loss of pin.
To this end, he said that an active search for household members in the communities, who were not present in the first payment, is taking place, so that they carry out proof of life and their benefits are safeguarded.
He added that as soon as the validation phase ends, the protocol with the banks and the start of payments will be signed.
However, he said that since May 2020, Kwenda has benefited 29,403 families residing in the municipalities of Curoca and Ombadja, out of a total of 62,397 registered families, in three municipalities.
In this regard, the global amount of AKN 1 billion, 110 million, 243 thousand and 500 was made available, paid through quarterly transfers, in the order of 25,500 Kwanzas (8,500 per month).
He clarified that, along with Curoca and Ombadja, the process allowed the registration of 16 thousand and 492 families in Namacunde, whose validation process was completed, awaiting only payment.
However, he pointed out as difficulties the lack of literacy in the communities and access to banks, stressing that many of the payments are being made in cash, within the scope of the protocol with the banks.
Alongside the monetary transfers, he informed that Kwenda allowed the distribution of 675 goats, benefiting, in a first phase, 75 families, within the scope of the productive inclusion component, which foresees assisting 150 families.
Kwenda comprises four components, namely Monetary Social Transfers, which have been ongoing since 2020, Productive Inclusion, Municipalization of Social Action and Reinforcement of the Single Social Register.
The program foresees, for three years, benefiting one million and 608 families across the country, with global funding of USD 420 million (320 allocated by the World Bank and 100 million by the Executive).
