Africa-Press – Angola. After different results in the two singles matches, the Angolan representation in the Billie Jean King Cup tournament, Africa zone group IV, in women’s tennis, won this Wednesday the similar Mozambican, by 2-1, in a competition to be played in Kigali, (Rwanda).

On this second day of the competition, the Angolans, led by coach João Almeida, resorted to pairs to overcome the Indian duo, as they were equal in individual victories.

At the entrance, the Angolan Gabriela Martins defeated the Mozambican Helen Khumalo, by two sets to zero, with the partials of 6-3 and 6-4, while Mariana Costa lost to Ilga Adolfo João, by 4-6 and 4- 6.

The Cup, which takes place by continental zones, is a competition on the International Tennis Federation (ITF) calendar.

In the capital of Rwanda, players from 11 African countries are involved, divided into two Pools (A and B), namely, Rwanda, Angola, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Congo, Cameroon, Lesotho, Democratic Republic of Congo, Madagascar and Senegal.

This is the first presence of Angola in this class event.
