Africa-Press – Angola. At least 100 families out of an estimated 22,000, from the Kixinge commune, Quiçama municipality, had water in their taps again, this Thursday, after administrator Elisabete Rafael reopened the collection system, which had been out of order for more than a year. year.
During the time that the infrastructure was inoperative, residents were forced to travel about eight kilometers to fetch water from a river.
The recovery of the system was based on the installation, by the municipal administration, of a new one that, by gravity, captures the liquid from a spring to a reservoir and from there to the taps.
According to the administrator of Quiçama, Elisabete Rafael, with this action the concerns related to diseases caused by lack of water are safeguarded.
The reopening act is part of a two-day working visit, which the administrator began this Thursday to Kixinge.
During her stay in this commune, which is more than 200 kilometers from the center of the country’s capital, Elisabete Rafael will listen to residents about their problems and try to solve them.
Among the main concerns is the poor condition of the roads. To reach this location, the route passes through the municipalities of Cambambe and Libolo, provinces of Cuanza-Norte and Cuanza-Sul, respectively.
Elisabete Rafael promises greater commitment and dynamism in improving the roads, in order to facilitate the connection between the five communes and the movement of people and goods.
