Africa-Press – Angola. The District Court of Lubango has scheduled, for the 23rd of the current month, the reading of the sentence of Health and Hotel Infotur officials involved in the alleged embezzlement of more than three million kwanzas.
The amounts in question were intended for the training of technicians in the health sector, in the province of Huíla.
The setting of the date was decided at the judgment session held this Friday, where the 110 questions resulting from the stages of production of the evidence were presented and discussed, with three points having been reformulated and the number of questions raised to 114.
The session ended up being rescheduled for the 23rd of the current year, to conclude the trial process that started on the 17th of May of this year.
In the process, the director of Health, Luciana Guimarães, the former head of the Department of Public Health, Hélio Tchiangalala, an accounting technician and the former manager of the Hotel Infortur, where the technicians who came from the municipalities for training stayed. .
The defense lawyer for co-accused Luciana Guimarães, Carina Nunes, said that “there was no discussion as such”, but rather the approval of the questions and the addition of some points.
“The reading of these questions today does not change the course of the process, because all that will happen from now on is the approval or not of the questions that we have seen and then wait for the publication of the sentence. We hope that justice will be done in the true sense of the word”, he clarified.
In turn, Hélio Tchangalala’s lawyer, Sandra Domingos, stressed that the questions do not need much discussion, because the questions produced result from the trial.
“With the judge’s reading, we understand what the outcome of the judgment will be more or less”, he emphasized.
