Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, congratulated, on Friday night, the Guineans for the orderly and democratic way of the legislative elections on Sunday, 4th, with the victory of the PAI – Terra Ranka coalition.
In a message addressed to his Guinea-Bissau counterpart, Umaru Sissokó Embaló, and to the Guinean people, the Angolan statesman highlights the fact that the Guinean people were able, in conditions of great openness, transparency and stability, to choose freely in the legislative elections PAI-Terra Ranka coalition.
As President of the Republic of Angola and President pro tempore of the CPLP, João Lourenço highlights the orderly, exemplary and democratic manner in which the legislative elections took place in Guinea-Bissau.
“I am convinced that Guinea-Bissau will know how to overcome the great challenge that lies ahead, in the sense of building the bases on which the unity of all the living forces of the nation will be based, which will be responsible, in a true climate of national unity , boost the development of your country”, reads the message.
The Angolan statesman also expresses the hope that Angola and Guinea-Bissau explore the reciprocal potential and project bilateral cooperation on the basis of concrete initiatives, which allow promoting prosperity and well-being of the respective peoples.
The PAI – Terra Ranka coalition, led by Domingos Simões Pereira, president of the African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde (PAIGC), won the Guinea-Bissau legislative elections with an absolute majority, obtaining 54 of the 102 deputies in parliament.
The results also indicate that the Movement for Democratic Alternation (Madem-G15), led by Braima Camará, has 29 deputies, while the Social Renewal Party (PRS) has 12 deputies.
The Guinean Workers Party (PTG), created at the end of 2021, and led by Botche Candé, obtained six deputies in its electoral debut.
