Africa-Press – Angola. Ten of the 66 citizens arrested for participating in the riot last Tuesday, in Lubango, Huíla province, as part of a protest against the withdrawal of gasoline subsidies, were heard on Friday by the Attorney General’s Office ( PGR).
Among the detainees are also the elements that set fire to a bus and looted the administration building of the Nambambi neighborhood and the MPLA local committee.
The information was released Saturday, by the spokesman for the National Police in Huíla, inspector Benedito Walter, noting that 13 of them will be summarily tried from the 13th of the current month, for the crimes of disobeying the order to disperse in a gathering. .
He declared that the process is ongoing, taking into account the number of individuals detained for alleged participation in the riot and their freedom has been curtailed.
He explained that the process takes place selectively, in order not to create injustice in the individual applicability of the sanctions that must be imputed, according to the law.
“May these actions serve as a reflection for those people who tend to engage in the same practices”, he warned.
He reaffirmed that they are working towards restoring more and more what is legality, tranquility and public safety.
