Africa-Press – Angola. -The defense and security operative bodies of Angola and Congo agreed Saturday, in Cabinda, to reinforce measures to mitigate the migratory flow in the respective countries, across common maritime, land and river borders.

According to the final joint communiqué issued at the Angola/Congo Bilateral Meeting, which took place in the city of Cabinda, the parties approved that, as of July 10 of the current year, the agreement to suspend visas in diplomatic passports and service in the respective countries.

It was also recommended to the border authorities of the province of Cabinda/Angola and of the departments (provinces) of Kouilou and Niari/Republic of Congo to hold continuous meetings and cooperate, permanently, with a view to intensifying actions against the migratory flow to reduce cross-border crimes along the border.

The ministers approved the 2015 minutes, related to the verification of land and river maritime borders, as well as the list of equipment and means, with the aim of continuing field work and border patrol.

Four subcommittees of experts were created, namely for Defence, Security, State Security and land, maritime and river border management to improve performance, guarantee security and combat the various cross-border crimes that occur on these dividing lines.

The Angolan delegation was made up of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, of National Defense and Veteran of the Fatherland, João Ernesto “Liberdade”, and of the Interior, Eugénio Laborinho, in addition to the Secretaries of State for Local Authorities, of the Interior and of National defense.

The Congolese side was represented by the ministers of the Interior, Decentralization and Local Development, Raimond Severin Mbolo, of Defense, Richard Mondjo, and the Secretary General of Foreign Affairs, André Poh.

Also present were general and senior officers from different branches of defense and security in the military regions of both countries.
